Below are some of the recent comments we have received by email about our new online service. We welcome all comments, good or bad, so please tell us what you think.

 

Being a green consumer I was very keen to hear on moving to the area about your food supplies.
The environment and buying food that is more environmentally minded is something that is important to me.
I was therefore utterly disappointed to visit your store. Just about every product was wrapped in plastic and why items such as grapefruit need wrapping is beyond me. And this seemed to be the theme throughout the store.
And then to find at the till you has two staff, one ready and waiting to pack my wrapped items in yet another bag was just about disgusting.
I found this utterly contradicting to your ethos portrayed on your website.
Although it is unlikely that I will shop with you again, I did feel that it is important to give you this feedback and an opportunity to respond.

Thank you for highlighting your irritation regards to our use of packaging at Green Fields, you are of course right.
We are all doing our best - in this instance that is not good enough.
In an effort to try to put comments in perspective:

1. We have halved our plastic bag purchasing in the last 12 months by reusing cardboard boxes that suppliers have sent us.
2. In September we are changing our carrier bag to a starch based, biodegradable product which does not contain any petrol chemicals.
3. In comparison, our range uses significantly LESS packaged than the main stream supermarkets.
4. FOOD MILES: no one can get even close to us for achieving the lowest food miles from produce to plate in our region. We have over 400 lines that are produced within 30 miles of our store.
5. We are also leading 'Local Sourcing' at ASDA stores in our region. Supplying direct from producer to store, supporting local businesses and reducing environmental impact.

This is work in progress - and there are examples where consumers will not buy product that is not protected by packaging.
However, I do except that we have more to do.
Thank you for your comments - we will never be satisfied in making sure that Green Fields is supporting local producers and reducing packaging wherever possible.

'You have achieved something amazing - thanks to you I am now an Asda customer!! Went in the other day and was thrilled to see the GreenFields local food on gondola ends. Nice and prominent too, rather than tucked away somewhere at the back.

So good to see a multiple really doing it, well done you and let's hope there'll be enough Asda customers supporting it.'

Hi, I have recently been talking to a few people at work about my fantastic shopping from Greenfields, and a few mentioned they would be interested. However a couple of them don't live locally, I wondered if there was anyway we could order our shopping and have all the orders delivered to our work address in Priorslee. There would potentially be four of us, possibly more.

If we could do this, what would be the best way to order, as we would want to ensure that our orders came separated, but presumably we would only need to be charged one delivery charge?

We replied...
Your request is very simple and is already been done by a number of our other customers for the same reason. All you need to do is order your shopping as individuals as normal, when you 'checkout' change the delivery address to your work address - or whatever address you decide that works for you collectively. We call this a 'delivery club'.

If you choose to order for the same delivery day and time-slot, and your combined orders are over £50 in total, there is NO delivery charge.
