Of course, having phoned about the meat delivery it turned up ten minutes later! Many thanks for being helpful about rearranging the delivery day and for tracking numbers etc - and my admiration to you for being so on top of it all. I find that impressive and also encouraging.

For all of you... A great many projects that are good in principle fall over because the organisers aren't really capable of sustaining them - that clearly doesn't apply to Fordhall, which shows ever sign of being able to maintain and develop itself successfully. Meat looks fantastic - your packing and presentation tick all the right boxes too. Full marks. You match up to the highest standards in every respect, which is what we know you aim to do.

Dear Ben, Charlotte and Sophie,
I wish I had written this as soon as I had finished the book, there was so much I wanted to say, which of course there was no way I was going to forget!!! and here I am trying to find some words. Excuse me therefore while I fumble my way through this.
I had been vegetarian for over 22 yrs, been eating all organic food for 8 and it was imperative to me that if he/we were going to eat meat it had to be done properly. The animals had to have lived a good life, a life being fed their natural diet and not stuffed full of grains, antibiotics and hormones.
We used to buy meat from a major super market, their organic lamb and beef, and I cannot tell you how I loathe to do that now if I have run out. The look of it is so artificial in comparison, the colour bright red, the smell, and of course the scale of the farming, all horribly wrong. The difference between your meat and other organic meat is fundamental (for want of a better word!). It wasn't important to me that it had organic certification. The ethos of the farm is what counts in the end and your farm beats all others hands down in this regard. It is a joy to me when my order comes to the door, it is always well packed, looks and smells superb, the meat is a good cold temperature, all I need to do is put it all in the freezer. It is also extremely good value, that bright red 'organic' meat from the big supermarket is still more expensive than Fordhall Farm and the difference in quality is incomparable. I don't even have to leave the house. The delivery charge is covered ten times over when I think how much petrol I use to get to the supermarket. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to feel in some very, very small way to be part of what you have achieved, which is nothing short of a miracle. I think you are absolutely incredible people, what you are doing and have done is so profoundly important and I hope you are reminded of that fact by others all the time.

We have bought our meat in bulk and through the post for several years. We have used Sheepdrove, Riverford, Chatsworth and Fordhall. The quality is excellent from them all but the quality of the meat we get from Fordhall is consistently top quality. When we have guests we can guarantee that if we take a Fordhall joint from the fridge or freezer then the meal is going to be excellent.
We have bought 4 meat boxes from Ben and when there is room in the freezer we will be ordering more.

Hi Ben,
I meant to e-mail before to say thank you for cutting and boning me a leg of pork to cure. It arrived safely and made a delicious ham which has been much enjoyed and appreciated by family and friends over Christmas. Both our sons also expressed an interest in buying shares in Fordhall when we explained where the pork had come from - so I hope you will benefit from that!
